Quality
United Utilities Australia Pty Ltd (UUA) is a wholly owned subsidiary of United Utilities plc, a large publicly listed multi utility service provider based in Warrington, England.
In Australia, UUA’s role and mission is to:
- Provide a full range of water and wastewater treatment operations and water utility management services under long term contracts with publicly and privately owned organisations within the municipal, industrial and mining sectors
- Develop new business opportunities and achieve further growth, both within the Australian water market sector and in other utility sectors
- Provide financing, project delivery and management of UUA’s capital investments in water related projects procured under Public Private Partnership contracts, via separately owned UUA entities or joint venture companies
UUA has a company-wide Quality Management System (QMS) accredited to AS/NZS ISO 9001:2000 standard, and is committed to:
- Maintaining our Quality Management System accreditation for all existing (and future) projects and business activities in accordance with the requirements of the ISO standard;
- Continually reviewing and improving the effectiveness of our Quality Management System;
- Using our Quality Management System as a framework for establishing and reviewing quality objectives;
- Ensuring that our quality policy and QMS is communicated to, and understood by all employees within the Company;
- Periodically reviewing the Quality Management System to assess its ongoing suitability;
- Undertaking an annual comprehensive business planning process which includes setting and reviewing quality objectives;
- Developing and promoting a culture of continual improvement within the Company, and excellence in service delivery
- Communicating with, and providing appropriate information to our stakeholders in relation to our quality policy, QMS and quality management performance;
- Ensuring that one of the key criteria in our selection of business partners and suppliers of goods and services is their demonstrable commitment to the principles embodied in UUA’s quality policy.
Responsibilities
Ultimate responsibility for executing this policy rests with the Managing Director. The Quality Manager is responsible for administering the policy and monitoring its implementation on behalf of the Managing Director. The Quality Manager will also report regularly on quality compliance and performance, and will initiate independent audits as appropriate.
Communication of the Policy
The latest revision of this policy will be displayed on principal noticeboards at all UUA sites, and otherwise brought to the attention of all employees. It will also be communicated to stakeholders, business partners and with whomever we seek to work, as well as being made available to the public on request.
