Nick Greiner, Chairman

Nick Greiner was Premier and Treasurer of New South Wales from 1988-1992.

He is currently Chairman of Bradken Limited, Bilfinger Berger Australia, The Nuance Group, United Utilities, Healthcare Australia, QBE LMI Ltd, Citigroup Australia; Deputy Chairman of Stockland Group and CHAMP, a Director of Australian Vintage Ltd and various private groups.

Nick is on the Committee for Economic Development of Australia’s (CEDA’s) Board of Governors.

In the Queen’s Birthday Honours List of 1994 he was awarded a Companion of the Order of Australia for public sector reform and management and services to the community.

Nick holds an Honours Degree in Economics from Sydney University and a Master of Business Administration with High Distinction from Harvard Business School.

Martin Beesley, age 41, is currently Director of Strategy for United Utilities plc. This role includes responsibility for Group Strategy, Mergers and Acquisitions, Business Planning and Marketing.

Prior to his current role he was Finance Director of United Utilities Water PLC and United Utilities Electricity PLC, having previously been Group Financial Controller within the United Utilities Group. He was also a non-executive director of THUS plc.

He joined United Utilities in 1996 from KPMG where he trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant.

Kevin Starling is the Managing Director of United Utilities Australia (UUA). He was appointed in July 2007 and is responsible for all of UUA’s operations and all business development activities in the Asia-Pacific region.

Between 2003-2007 he was Chief Executive Officer of Sofia Water and managed United Utilities International’s controlling interest in this 25 year water concession in Sofia, Bulgaria serving 1.5million customers.

His 20 years of experience in the overseas water industry includes corporate finance, international service management, business development, including bidding and company take-overs, public-private partnerships as well as long term strategic management focussed on customer satisfaction and bottom line profitability.

Before joining United Utilities in 2003, Kevin was a Managing Director of Anglian Water International - one of the world's biggest water companies. Based in Santiago, Chile he was managing all aspects of AWI’s controlling interest in ESVAL, a privatised water utility in Chile serving 1.5million customers and in AWB, a wholly owned industrial waste-water treatment company in Brazil.

In addition to this, he was also responsible for all aspects of business development of Anglian Water Operations in the Americas with particular focus on Chile, Brazil, Mexico, US and the Caribbean. During his career in South America (2000 - 2003) Kevin was appointed President of Aguas Puerto, AWI’s holding company in South America and a Main Board Director of Aguas Argentina, a water concession in Buenos Aires serving 8 million customers.

Kevin resides in Adelaide, South Australia and is married with two children.

Simon joined United Utilities as Finance Director, Australia in March 1993, having previously been on secondment to the company from October 1992. He is responsible for the financial, treasury, legal, taxation and commercial affairs of the company. He also has a lead role for the procurement of finance, development of documentation and taxation structures on all development projects.

Simon has had extensive involvement, both in development and on-going management, in all United Utilities’ projects in Australia.

Prior to joining United Utilities, Simon spent 10 years in the taxation department of Arthur Andersen.

Simon’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Laws (University of Sydney).
