Water Plant Work

Kinduro Treatment Facility Construction Starts

4 August 2009

Construction of a $67 million water treatment plant to cater for the growing Northern Beaches is underway at Kinduro near Rollingstone.

The Northern Water Treatment Plant will treat up to 40 megalitres of water each day from Crystal Creek and Lake Paluma.

“There were problems with water from Crystal Creek and Paluma in the wet season. The water on a lot of occasions was high in iron and manganese and that was then staining when people washed their clothes”, he said.

“That will soon be a thing of the past”. Water will be processed through a membrane filtration system and flow in to the Mount Louisa Reservoir, which services several Townsville suburbs including KIrwan, the Bohle, Garbutt, Vincent and Heatley.
