Goldfields Esperance Water Supply Project

At the request of the State Government, the Economic Regulation Authority (ERA) in Western Australia in inquiring into the cost of supplying bulk water to Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

The cost of transporting water from Perth to Kalgoorlie-Boulder is being compared to the cost of the proposal by United Utilities Australia (UUA) to transport desalinated seawater by pipeline from Esperance.

The ERA published a draft report on the inquiry on 30 June 2005 and invited interested parties to prepare and lodge submissions in response to the draft report by 29 July, 2005.

A final report, including recommendations, will be delivered to the Treasurer by 16 September 2005.
