Victor Harbor wastewater treatment plant contract

SA Water has entered into a contract with United Utilities Australia which will finance, design, construct and operate for 20 years, a new wastewater treatment plant for the town of Victor Harbor on the Fleurieu Peninsula, south of Adelaide. Project capital cost, including land acquisition and other costs met by SA Water, is approximately $40 million. The new plant will be at the forefront in Australia for the application of immersed membrane bio reactor technology in municipal wastewater treatment. This technology can remove micro-organisms down to the size of viruses and Phosphorus discharge will be reduced by 99% compared with the discharge from the existing plant, which was commissioned in 1972.

Wastewater agreement for McLaren Vale-Willunga

Up to 3 million litres of effluent from local septic tanks will daily be converted into usable water under an innovative partnership to be announced next week by the City of Onkaparinga and United Utilities Australia. Under the partnership, UUA will complete a new sewage plant at Willunga early next year and operate and manage the city’s STEDS (septic tank effluent disposal scheme) until 2028. UUA will also manage the city’s septic tank de-sludging program and STEDS capital works program.

New Coliban service a winner for customers

From July 1, 2003 United Utilities Australia will be involved in the country’s most encompassing water outsourcing contract following the signing of an agreement with Victorian regional authority Coliban Water. Under a 10 year contract, commencing on that date, Campaspe Asset Management (CAMS), an equal joint venture between United Utilities and Origin Energy Asset Management, will carry out field services, water and wastewater treatment, IT, revenue, operations and maintenance, technical and laboratory services. The term may be extended for a further five years. The joint venture will also participate in developing Coliban Water’s capital works program throughout the contract period.

Indian contract for United Utilities Australia

The water treatment plant design that provides high quality filtered River Murray water to more than 150,000 regional South Australians has been adopted for a new water treatment facility in India. Adelaide-headquartered United Utilities Australia, the lead company in Riverland Water, which financed, designed, built and operates water treatment plants along the Murray from Renmark to Tailem Bend is providing design input and other services for the new facility, located at Tirupur in the state of Tamil Nadu, southern India.
