In addition to owning and operating the regulated electricity, water and wastewater infrastructure in north west England, United Utilities has over 30 sites across the country providing business services to clients. We manage water and wastewater infrastructure and capital investment programs in England, Wales and Scotland and they operate the North of England gas network.

From improving water and wastewater services in Manila to managing water and wastewater networks in Estonia, our expertise is travelling to the furthest corners of the globe. By applying our core skills to international markets we are creating a global business that operates responsibly and efficiently. Our Bulgarian concession has been recognised by the United Nations for its approach to developing socially responsible practices.

Australia

We operate 12 water and three wastewater treatment plants in Australia, as well as septic tank effluent disposal (STEDS) schemes and a major pipeline project. We also operate and maintain all water and wastewater services and assets for Bendigo and surrounding districts in Victoria.

Bulgaria

We operate, maintain and improve water and wastewater services to a population of 1.2 million in the capital, Sofia.

Estonia

We manage water and wastewater operations for the capital, Tallinn, serving over 400,000 people.

Philippines

The very nature of Manila Water’s business of providing water especially to low-income communities enables it to have the unique opportunity to integrate social responsibility with its mainstream operations. Through the company’s flagship program, ‘Tubig Para sa Barangay’ (TPSB) or Water for the Community, Manila Water has demonstrated its commitment to the poor by attending to and addressing their need for a regular supply of clean, safe and more affordable drinking water. Launched in late 1998, the TPSB program is specifically designed for areas where there are clusters of low-income communities, including informal settlers, and where there is poor quality of water arising from the proliferation of illegal water service connections.
To date, over 600 low-income communities in the East Zone of Metro Manila, including hundreds of informal settlers, have benefited from this program. This brings the number of poor people who are now enjoying clean and affordable water to over one million..

Poland

With our partners, we provide water and wastewater services to 300,000 people in the southern Polish city of Bielsko-Biala and nine neighbouring communities.
